raccoon

I saw raccoon's family in our backyard recently.
Probably, a mom and three babies. They showed up at daytime, so it was quite rare cases around residential areas. I believe that I had an eye-contact with them.
Also, a skunk passed through our garden another day.
What a wild life in Vancouver!
I can't experience those things in my neighborhood in Japan.

Drinking Coffee with a Straw

Recently, I have noticed an influx in the number of people who drink coffee with a straw. I found out that the purpose of this action is to avoid staining the teeth. That's exactly why I drink red wine, whiskey, cooking wine, and mouth wash with a straw...so I don't stain these pearly whites. Also, I have begun eating ribs with rubber gloves, petting dogs with a stick, and shaking people's hand with a baseball bat - to avoid stains.

Lauren's weekend

Now that summer's here, there's a lot going on in Vancouver. I don't know what these things are exactly, but check online, check the metro and the 24 and you'll find plenty of options. Don't forget that Canada Day is on Wednesday, so maybe there are some pre-Canada Day activities going on. Enjoy!

Swine Flu

Just coming back from Japan.
Surprisingly, the big differences of swine flu things between Japan and Canada.
Kind of culture shocks for me.
Hopefully, everything will be calm down soon.

Tis the season of summer--rob

alas another season of hockey is done; the city was ripe for a long playoff push-or at least I wanted days of beers and hockey on patios. oh well, soon the summer sun will be upon us and we can relish our days of leisure accordingly...Ive been getting a few emails from friends all over the northern hemisphere who are already enjoying the benefits of sunshine, soooooooooon for us to.

Lauren says, save it for the beach

It still amazes me that although the weather is cool, because it's "spring" people wear flip-flops and tank tops. You should probably check the weather BEFORE you go out and not depend on what season it is. There will be plenty of time for tube tops and *groan* sleeveless man-shirts. Spring is not that time. Save it for the beach.

Mattress-side

I've been seeing a lot of mattresses dumped in no dumping areas lately, and I realized that people don't know how to throw out a mattress. Let's look at how to throw out different things, that aren't mattresses: (1) a lawn chair can be dumped in the ocean if a rock (or a piano is tied to it) (2) a pair of pants can be put in the garberator or recycled into a long pair of shorts (3) a house can be burned to the ground, making room for a new development, such as a palace or a parliament building (4) a frozen bagel can be flushed down the toilet, or toasted, covered with butter, placed on a plate and then be flushed down the toilet.
However, a mattress, can not be removed from the world using these techniques. So ideas would be greatly appreciated; and don't say, "Give to Charity" because I talked to Charity and she is sick of old mattresses.

My Breakfast by Devin

Have I mentioned that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day? Listen to what I had for breakfast THIS morning: 2 waffles, with ham, spinach, and guacamole between them. A delicious waffle sandwich. I followed that up with a cup of lemon ginger tea, and then a small coffee from Sciue (the Italian cafe across the street from Arlington).

All in all, a lovely time.
